Reflections 2010 "Together We Can . . ."

This year Garett came home from school telling us that one of his class assignments was to enter the Reflections contest. This was NOT music to my ears. You see whenever this or the science fair comes around it usually means lots of fights; student versus parents. I think they wait too long to start, they think I am being too hard, and in the end it really turns into the night before family project.
This year was a bit different. Garett already knew what he wanted and had it in his head how to get it done.
The theme for 2010 was "Together We Can", well Garrett wanted to do a football field complete with clay players, turf the whole ten yards. He wanted to let everyone know that if a team pulls together they can WIN.

He found a shoe box from under the stairs, he helped Tom cut the outdoor carpet.

Next step begin painting the field:

We attended the awards night this past week and Garett was given a participation award. We are so proud of him. He may not have come home with a medal or a trophy but we as parents are so proud that Garett did this on his own. He of course was a bit disappointed in the outcome but Tom and I explained to him that this project was something that was near and dear to his heart. He took the theme and created a work of art that meant something. I told him that you just never know what the judges are looking for. But his was the most original and in my eyes the BEST. Congrats Garett, tonight you made your dad and I super proud.
