Little Get-A-Way to a place we call GLENDALE

Tom and I really wanted to get the kids away for the weekend but with money being tight and trying really hard to stick to a budget we were not sure what to do.  Tom came up with the idea to see if the Thomas Family cabin in Glendale was available; and it was.  The boys LOVE it.  The peace and quiet is a slice of heaven.  So we packed up the blazer and headed up with our family plus Logan and Kegan.
We arrived Friday evening and the temps were delightful compared to the high 90s back home we enjoyed the low 80s.  We threw some pork chops on the BBQ, fried up some red potatoes and had us  a delightful dinner.
Saturday we all slept in a bit…that was nice.  I looked out the bedroom window and saw a doe laying on the edge of the lawn.  The boys fished the river, played in the pond, made a new raft and of course watched a movie or two.

G found a cowboy hat

Everything was so green.  It appears that Glendale had been receiving the much needed moisture.

Even during a small rain storm we couldn't make ourselves go inside.  It was just beautiful

Tom and I took a few walks.  He insisted that I pose for a photo because I am always behind the lens

 snag?!?!
and finally success
And of course we must include the photos of the pond ~

Seriously this is HEAVEN on EARTH
Saturday late afternoon Blake, Tess and their kiddos joined us.  Their family brings so much life to the party.  I feel so blessed to have this cute family around.  I love them all so much and they complete our family.

Our heart felt thanks to the Thomas family for letting us take advantage of the free weekend.  Our family truly loves it and we have made many many memories that will last a lifetime.  Our boys love to listen to the stories that Tom and Dale tell about their childhood days spent at Glendale.  This is truly HEAVEN on EARTH

Feeling so Loved

I must take a minute to blog about the outpouring of love that was shown to our family since Weston has began his adventures of being a missionary.
I was told by so many other moms that you will cry, you will laugh, you will feel proud and your heart will hurt.  Man o Man did my heart hurt.  Never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to hurt like that.  It was the kind of hurt that takes your breath away.  I cried for hours and then would be just fine for hours then go back to crying.  It was a crazy cycle.  It was such a rollercoaster of emotions for me and for my family as a whole.
Jenn Leatherow put together a cute missionary mom survival basket and gave it to me the night Wes was set apart as a missionary.  This was the first of many acts of love and support I recieved.

I received my first text message from Amy Christensen about 6:15 AM on the 23rd telling me she was thinking of me.  Amy wil be sending her first missionary out this Wednesday, August 7.  Justin will be serving in Japan.
My visiting teachers, Heather and Lynette stopped by with chocolate cupcakes.  They were delicious.  They were eaten by me and my guys before a photo opp. was possible.  Debbie Winterbottom stopped over with a card and more chocolate ~Fudge bars.  She too is getting ready to send out a missionary.  Josh will be serving in Dallas, TX.  Debbie has been my rock thru all of this.  Her and I have connected this past year.  I cherish our friendship and love you like a sister.  I love her 3 boys like my own.  Her Landon, has been so sweet since Weston left.  He continually checks on me and reminds me that if I need anything I can call him.  So sweet.  Debbie apologized to me saying she was using me as an example of how this whole thing works, she was sorry I was going thru it first ~ to that I replied it's OK cuz that just means I get my missionary home first.  :)
Twyla Cluster stopped by later with more chocolate and some flowers.  She just had a son return from a mission and is getting ready to sent out son number two.  She was so sweet and let me cry and didn't judge me at all.  Thank you Twyla, your thoughtfulness touched my heart.
Later that evening the Bells from next door also brought over a basket of goodies.  Their oldest son Jordan has already returned with honor and their second son, Ryan is currently serving our Lord in the Lone Star state.  They too were sweet and told me how it would hurt but days would get easier quicker than I knew.
My friends, Tanya and Celeste called me on their way home from work on the 23rd to check on me and to reassure me that I was loved and I would get thru this.

This post would be not complete if I didn't give a shout out to my guys.  They were awesome.  I know without a doubt their hearts were broke too but they rallied around this momma and held me while I cried and not once did they poke fun at me.
To my G ~ your brother loves you and is so proud of the young man you are becoming and he will be back in time to watch to rock and roll on the football field dressed in Scottish plaid.
To my Bug ~ your best friend is off on an adventure and paving the way for you to serve our Father in Heaven.  He is missing you and loving you.  And he will be back in time to see you off and give you some of the ins and outs of being a missionary.
To my Tom ~ THANK YOU, THANK YOU and THANK YOU for being so patient with me as I took time to heal.  I know you miss him as much as I do and even more in a few short months.  I know without a doubt that your stories of the hunts will help him get thru the next two years.  You are an amazing dad, an amazing example and above all an amazing husband.

I am sure I missed many others who included us in their thoughts and prayers and to you ~ Thank you.

…..PS today is day 12 and I can honestly say I am OK.
