Here is is getting ready before his game.

This is Sterling's "sun tat". He assured me several times it did NOT hurt.

You just gotta love Luke Taylor.

And no blog of Weston's would be complete without a quick snap shot of Kenzi Abbott.
Then we headed for home late that night. I unfornately was not able to get photos of his games but the Abbott family did and so I am "borrowing" their photos of him. Weston will be in the Gremio blue wearing the number 20.
I love the game face.
I am sure if we could read thoughts at this moment we would be glad we were not the kid who knocked him to the ground. Weston always finds a way to get back, could be taking the ball, it could be a quick shirt tug or better yet setting up a goal.
Weston goes up for all the headers, sometimes he connects and sometimes he misses but what I love the most is he ALWAYS tries.
More random photos of the game.
Weston and Kaelton hanging out at one of the girls' games.

When all the games were played Fremont was knocked out of the tournament early on but Gremio were down there as the defending champions so they had a lot to prove. As we received telephone updates from the field we were told Gremio would be playing for gold on Saturday morning. Man talk about a very long morning for this mom and dad. We haven't missed a game in years and now were are missing the championship game. I asked Tom several times Friday night if we could just make the drive and he would give me that "look". So I had to settle for quarter by quarter telephone/text updates. Well with about 2 minutes left in the game we get the worst call ~ Weston has been taken out, the opposing player receiving a red card, and Weston is in bad shape. He has dislocated his left knee. Chino, the coach moved it back in place and Weston was carried off the field. His team carried him upto the medals stand where GREMIO received the ...... GOLD medal.
Thank you to Shane and Heidi for feeding him and giving him a place to sleep and supporting him when we couldn't. Thank you to the Abbotts for giving him a ride home so that his mom could be at ease. We put him on the couch and gave him some TLC until we could get him to the doctor.

This all took place on June 12th. The doctor instructed him to wear a brace that was from the middle of the thigh to middle of the calf. Keeping his leg straight. No movement, no running, no swimming, no really doing anything for about 1 month. We visited with the doctor on July 20th and he was taken out of that brace and is now sporting a brand new "J brace" This brace allows him to bend the knee but gives his knee cap the extra support to stay in place. He is also starting physical therapy twice a week. We go back to the doctor the middle of August and he is hoping that Weston will be released to play ball. The fall comp season will begin the end of August. This has been a really long summer so far for Weston. He has had days were he really gets bummed out but for the most part he has been a trooper. Wish him luck.

I KNEW that picture Garett took of me would come back to haunt me! Hahaha. Wes has been a trooper, I feel bad for him. Hopefully he'll be alright in time for comp. :)
