Three strikes and your OUT!

Weston dislocated his knee for a third time in August and we all knew surgery was in his future. After visiting with a few different doctors we scheduled his surgery for November 23rd. Dr. Byck performed the surgery at Davis Surgical Center in Layton. Weston and I arrived at the hospital at 10:30 and we left at 4:30 not too bad. I took a good book and just patiently waited. The doctor said the surgery went great. He said Weston would be back on the soccer field by the beginning of March. The first night at home was pure hell. There really is no other way to describe it. Weston was in so much pain. He was pulling his hair, slapping the couch and just miserable. Tom and I felt so helpless. We called Eileen at 3:30 AM (I knew she was at work and was just hoping she would answer her cell phone) we asked her about blood clots, she didn't think it sounded like that so we tried to help him hang in there for a few more hours until I could call the doctor at 8:00. Once we got a hold of the doctor he said Weston should not be in that much pain. He had us release the brace . . . . wow once we unsnapped that Weston went thru the roof and Garett took off downstairs. Still in pain, I asked the doctor if we could remove the "white compression" sock? The compression sock on the operative leg the doctor asked. I said yes and then the doctor responded, why in the hell is that on there? Cut that off of him now. Once the sock was off and his leg could naturally swell the pain subsided. Talk about an upset mom. The doctor assured me the surgical center would be instructed to not do that again. After everything settled down I realized Garett was still downstairs so I went to find him. He was quite upset and worried about Weston. He told me he was scared because he had never seen his big brother cry. Too sweet.
Weston is now doing great. He goes to physical therapy twice a week and is doing fabulous.

He is a bit disappointed that he won't have "cool" scars to talk about but as you can see it is looking great.
