So Fall of 2014 was full of Hiker Football! This was a rough season for the Hikers but Garett met some personal goals and also helped his team stay tough when the odds were stacked against them. They lost their starting QB for the season ~ and losing your QB is a blow to any team. But the team rallied, faught hard and NEVER gave up. They came out to play game after game. Garett was able to put a few of the opposing QB on their backs, he was in on many tackles and had a fumble recovery or two. I love my Boy of Fall.
This was the final game of his freshman year! Love the smile!
Of course Fall for the Leatherow boys is also full of hunts! I have said it so many times that it sounds like a broken record but I LOVE they togetherness that my boys feel when they are on the mountain or in the marsh. I love the memories they are making with each other and with their uncles and cousins. A family who hunts together stays together
Logan's dog Titan
C's Antelope
C and Colby Smith (Darbie's brother)
Love this photo! Logan, Titan and G
Mia was also able to try hunting this year. The boys say she is a natural. You will see some photos of our Miss Mia in future posts
Homecoming 2014 ~ C and Darbie
Love seeing my boys all dressed up. I love the color of dress and Darbie is beautiful, like always
Quick squeeze before he heads out the door
In the fall we also need to get the opportunity to hear from our prophet and other leaders of the church. I am so proud of these men for chosing to attend Priesthood Session on Saturday night. These men are seriously some of the best examples in my life and I love them all.
Tom and G headed over early to help usher
these fine young men followed shortly after
And Halloween 2014 will be one we won't forget. Tom and Stake Youth Leaders hosted the Halloween Blast from the Past Stomp. Tom and the other men dressed as Soda Jerks ~
Garett talked Kegan into going with him ~ their costumes? Not sure but they thought they were "hot"
Again a family that plays together stays together
Of course NO Halloween is complete without the Heil Halloween Bash. This year didn't disappoint!
A little Risky Business
Welcome to carving pumpkins Heil style
We all took a few minutes to pose for some family pictures
The Watkins also enjoyed this Halloween!
Halloween at the Bank of Utah Mortgage Ops department was very laid back. We played life size hang man. Talk about easy and the most comfortable costume EVER
October 2014 was also a hard month for Brutus the GMC. We thought we lost him. But with LOTS of help and major doses of TLC he was brought back to life. Thank you ~ Kyle, Logan, Dale, Dad and everyone who offered prayers on his behave. Wes even said a prayer from El Salvador.
And we are singin "on the road again"
We celebrated Thanksgiving at Dale and Eileen's home. The day was fun and family filled. I even managed to put on a show for the family ~ I tripped, fell in the gutter and knocked myself senseless for a few seconds. CRAZY Shar! No pics but everyone was there and we had a great dinner
Moving on to December 2014.
On Sunday, Dec 15th, 2014 we as a family attended a Multi-Faith Devotional at the high school where Colton and the other seminary council members sang. It was great program and I loved being able to show off my handsome boys.
And just like that we are celebrating Christmas!
Heil Christmas Party!
We also celebrated Grandma Heil's 91st Birthday on this night. She looks amazing and I love her so much!
On this night she gave each family a copy of a poem she had written on December 20th, 1998
This morning I sat down at my kitchen table
To send cards to my friends, while I am able.
I wished them Merry Xmas, then signed my name,
But it didn't mean much, just more the same
Some thought X was for Extra and M meant more,
A was for always and S meant for sure.
So now I know not to sign that way again,
When next Christmas, the holiday cards I will send
Now I'll never use that four letter word
It doesn't convey the message we heard
The star of Bethleham was shining above
To let us know the true meaning of love
So…
C is for Cradle and H is for Health
R is for Reason the wise men brought wealth
I is for Infant dressed in swaddling clothes
S is for the Savior that most everyone knows
T if for Tenderness Joseph felt toward Mary
M is for Mother who was so very weary
A is for the Angels who hoovered in flight
S is for the Savior born in a manger that night
I'll never spell Christmas like that four letter word
It isn't the message that needs to be heard
I'll write it in nine letters, Oh the joy it brings
When it includes Christ, our Savior, our King
Frankie Heil
Love this poem and knowing it came from my grandma makes me love it more. She is one special lady.
We gathered at Dale and Eileen's home on Christmas Eve to celebrate Christmas and to exchange our gifts. And just like Thanksgiving their home was full. Our family is growing and growing. And everyone knows that Dale's family loves to wrestle ~ and they will take on anyone ~ Kyle and Kegan vs EVERYONE.
The youngsters pose for a picture in their new Christmas Eve jammies! Love family traditions that continue to get handed down. I am happy to report that I didn't trip or fall and the night was great. Garett did box Kyle's ears and he was down for the count. OOPS. When all was said and done we headed for home.
Once home we tucked ourselves in and waited for the big man to arrive and not only did he find us and deliver gifts he brought the first major snow storm of the season. Everyone wishing for a white Christmas woke up HAPPY!
We also were blessed and got to Skype with Elder Wes for almost 2 hours. He is GREAT. He sent us all home personalized jerserys. We love them and wore them most of the day.
putting in some miles on his shoes! This picture was featured on LDS Missionaries Facebook page and was liked 2500+ times and had over 45 comments! He is famous
My family has been blessed so much in 2014. We have had trials and we have seen much success but together we got thru it all. I am so very grateful for my guys and for the love they show me and eachother. We are a forever family and I thank my Father in Heaven every day for all of them.
Kissing 2014 good bye ~ bring on 2015!
