Sunday evening Kenz stopped by to answer Weston to prom while he was at work.
Tuesday night Garett had a basketball game in South Ogden. The team didn't look so hot the first quarter but they finally found their groove and fought a good fight but unfortunately the other team had too big of a lead to over come. G actually didn't see much playing time this game but as we were driving home he said something to me that made me realize just how grown up he is and I now know without a doubt he is becoming a FABULOUS athlete. We were discussing the game and I tried to make him think I didn't notice his lack of playing time but he said to me, "Mom, I know why I didn't see much playing time ~ I dogged it at practice this week. I didn't give coach my all." I didn't quite know what to say. So I said what every mom would have said, "well, did you learn your lesson?" You see G may have not seen the court much but he never once stopped cheering for and motivating his team. When time outs were called he ran to the huddle, he gave high 5s and encouraged his team to play hard and finish the game. That to me is worth a million baskets. G, you made me super proud of you and I know I walked a bit taller and my head held high knowing you are my son. Continue to be a team player and I promise you, you will go far in your sports. I love you.
Weston had track on both Tuesday and Wednesday at Fremont High School in Plain City. I had left work on Tuesday to get there by 3:00 but Wes called and told me to go back to work because he wasn't competing in any of the events that afternoon. So back to work I went. I was super bummed out because I knew I wouldn't be able to make it Wednesday and he was competing then. Luckily Tom was able to get off work in time. So he went and grabbed G from school a bit early and they went out to support Wes. His first attempt at the javaline ended up hitting him in the head. I really can't visualize that so if you can go ahead a chuckle because he is OK. His second attempt better and third even better he broke 100 feet. Not bad for a newbie if you ask this mom. He also ran in the relay. Tom said Wes looked nice and strong for his leg but the team as a whole didn't fair so well. Sorry no pictures ~ I had the camera with me at work. :)
Wednesday evening was the Rock Cliff pinewood derby. The night started off rough, the gentleman who provides the track forgot about us and was about 40 minutes late. Boy was I stressed. Being the cubmaster you want the night to be perfect for those boys. Everyone kept telling me it was fine and that everything would work out. Once the track was assembled and the racing began the night was a riot. I love seeing all the different cars and the boys' smiles. Tom was speaking to the bishop from the 5th ward, Bro. Anderson and he commented on how well I conducted the evening. He was shocked that I hated being in front of a crowd. He said I did great ~ that made my day.
Thursday was full of ups and downs. We will start with the UPs. D.A.R.E graduation for G. He along with the rest of the 6th grade class have been working hard for weeks and the day was finally here. The ceremony was fantastic. All the students were assigned a writing assignment. They were to write an essay on what they have learned from the program. Officer Miller would then pick a boy and girl from each class to read theirs during the ceremony. G was selected. Boy, another proud mom and dad moment. Tom was able to sneak out of work just in time to make it. It was fantastic
Taylor Abbot was also chosen from G's class. Congrats! I didn't get one photo of G reading his essay; I did record him so when you stop by ask about it and I will play it for you. He did Wonderful.

We also received all the boys' report cards this week. I really don't know what Tom and I did to get so lucky but whatever we did I am sure glad we did it. School has always been super important to our boys. We don't have to stress to them the importance of getting good grades they just do it. They all put in the extra effort to bring home top notch report cards. Check this out!

Work on Thursday was no different but for some reason I felt so overwhelmed and had a tiny melt down. Thus the down part. I was a bit embarrassed as I didn't want to anyone at the work place to see me like that. It is just we are working so many hours, my house was suffering, I missed cooking for the guys, and I missed being home with them before 7:30/8:00 each night. I guess you could say I was feeling a bit sorry for myself. Please don't get me wrong I am so thankful for the work and for working for a company who allows me to make almost all of my boys activities but I was just so tired and I finally hit a breaking point. So when I finally arrived home on Thursday the tears wouldn't stop. But when they did Tom and the boys started my birthday off a bit early and surprised me with a KINDLE FIRE! Talk about water works. I cried again but this time they were tears because they thought about me and I felt so loved. Tom said they he just couldn't wait when he knew he had something right upstairs that would make me smile. and Smile I did.
Friday the gals at work all brought treats to help me celebrate my birthdy. Rachel gave me this delightful Blendo set.
Weston had a game at home against Morgan. The Scots brought home a Win 3 to 0 (no pics this game)
My guys got me Swedish fish for day two of my birthday weekend...
Saturday was a day that I have been waiting for. My friend Jenee and her husband, Alec came to O-town. They were down here to register at Babies-R-Us. and we met up for lunch. She looks great. She just glows. I am so happy that she finally found a man to complete her. Alec is a great guy. I took my camera and even warned her in an email that I would be taking pictures and wouldn't you know it I left the damn thing in my purse the entire time we were at lunch. Dang it. This was also part of my birthday weekend ~ lunch with Tom and great friends.
Saturday was a beautiful day outside and the boys worked in the yard and I snapped some photos.
Sunday was a wonderful day. The boys and I enjoyed watching conference together. I was super impressed they all stayed in the living room for the entire two hours and no one fell asleep. The talks were great and as always I felt they were directed at me. The afternoon session was a bit harder on them and they slowly found their way to other rooms. But I am OK with that. It was on in my home and they for the most part were quiet so I could listen. Sunday was also the day I turned 38. 38? Can you believe that? I sure can't. I am so thankful for the many blessing in my life. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people day in and day out. I only had a brief moment of being angry at the young foolish man who took my mom from me. Birthdays were always celebrated big with my mom. She always made sure you felt extra special on your birthday so my birthday is actually one of the hardest days for me with my mom gone. But my guys made it wonderful. Colton made me breakfast
and Tom brought me home a BEAUTIFUL bouqet of sunflowers.
Thank you to everyone who took time to either text me or send me a message on Facebook to wish me a happy birthday. It truly means so much to know that so many of you thought about me. So with my birthday over - I will dare to get older.
