Tom and the boys loaded up the truck and trailer, the four wheelers and we headed to the hills. The hills up in Hyrum that is. We thought that it would be great to head back to Blacksmith Fork. This was a favorite camp spot for our family when the boys were super little (in fact Colton doesn't remember too much and Garett, well I believe he was still just a twinkle in his daddy's eye). We were a bit bummed when we arrived to see "our" meadow had already been taken. So Tom found us an even better meadow if you ask me. It was off the road so you don't eat all the dust from the crazy guys flying up the road and we were literally all by ourself. Another bonus, I was only about 200 yards from the potty.
We worked together as a family and got the tents up, got the kitchen for the week organized and unloaded the four wheelers.
After all was set up Tom and Garett headed off to fish. Tom caught a fish right after his line hit the water. Man this was a sign of the luck he was going to have for the week. He was catching them left and right. Garett on the other had was not quite so lucky and he got a bit mad. I couldn't help but laugh as he was pouting. Colton also had his run of bad luck when he snapped his new fly rod in half.
I like to tag along when the boys fish ~ this is the view from the bridge upstream. The outdoors are just spectaular. Heavenly Father really knows how to paint a picture.
When the boys were not fishing they were shooting their BB guns at anything and everything.
Including eachother. Yep, you read that correctly. Weston wondered how it would feel to be shot by a BB gun that was only pumped ONCE. So his dad helped him satisfy is curiousity. What a dad. Weston paced it off and Tom gave the BB gun ONE pump and hit Weston right on the calf.
Well another change this summer ~ Weston is a working man. So before he had to cut his vacation short we made sure we did S'mores. What a great time that evening was. All of my guys and me sitting around the camp fire. I did most of the listening as the conversation is ALWAYS about the upcoming hunts. Don't get me wrong, I love the chatter between the boys, it really is music to my hears. They get so excited and are so passionate about the sport.
Lovin' the S'mores.
Tess and her family drove up one evening for dinner.
I don't know why I missed getting a photo of Corben. Darn it.
There are only a few things I miss about the trailer and being able to wash my hair is probably number one. So my husband offered to wash my hair one morning and I could not resist. It was heavenly. Thank you Tom, I love you.
No camping trip is complete without Dutch Oven potatoes....
Yep ~ that is Weston. He knew Dutch Oven was on the menu for Sunday so he drove back up for the day.
The weather was wonderful the entire time we were camping ~ so wonderful in fact we were able to sleep in and fall into a deep sleep that I didn't hear someone snap a photo of us snoring.
If we had to find one thing to complain about for the week it would be the lack of riding. The two trails were both closed due to snow and water damage but the boys managed to find some fun.
And mom and dad pose for a photo opp.
This was a wonderful family vacation. I had time to spend with all my boys, I read a great book and ate some great cooking. Can't wait for the next camp trip. I love you Leatherow boys.
